U.S. envoy receives briefing on elections in Bhairahawa
U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Peter W. Bodde visited Bhairahawa Wednesday and received briefing about the preparations for November election from local government officials, said a U.S. embassy statement.
Ambassador Bodde was briefed about elections during his meetings with the Chief District Officer and the District Election Officer. Ambassador Bodde further met with business leaders and NGO representatives of Rupandehi district.
In his remarks to Siddarthnagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ambassador Bodde recalled that in the United States, September 11th is a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
“We recall how the worst terrorist attack in American history brought out the best in the American people. We remember how Americans lined up to give blood and how volunteers drove across the country to lend a hand," he said.
"The 9/11 reminds us that in times of challenge, everyone’s efforts count. I firmly believe that as individuals we all have the power to improve our own communities with just a little time and energy,” added the ambassador. Nepalnews.com
