SC issues stay order against EC on RPP-N election symbol case
The Supreme Court on Friday delivered a stay order against the Election Commission asking the latter as to why the election symbol of RPP-N, a cow, was placed in the ninth position, instead of third, in the ballot paper.
The stay order was issued in response to a writ petition filed by RPP-N, led by Kamal Thapa. Thapa, in the petition, had argued that the party was registered third with the Election Commission and therefore, deserves to be placed in the third position in the ballot paper.
"The EC's move is against the practice of placing the electoral symbol as per the order of their registration," said the petition.
Justices Kalyan Shrestha and Baidyanath Upadhyay delivered the order which has decreed the Commission to furnish reply shortly at the apex court. Nepalnews.com
