Action will be taken against frauds in foreign employment sector: IEC chair Regmi
The government will take action against those involved in the misappropriation in the foreign employment business, said Chairman of the Interim Election Council, Khil Raj Regmi.
During the meeting with representatives of the Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs' Association on Friday morning in the capital, Chairman Regmi urged the association to create a favourable environment for those who are opting for overseas jobs.
The association met Regmi in course of its protest against the Department of Immigration. The department had returned 190 Nepalis who were set to fly to foreign land for employment over different reasons.
The department returned the workers after the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested 17 employees of the Department of Foreign Employment and 18 of the Department of Immigration and recommended action against them a few weeks ago, said former chairman of the association, Prem Bahadur Katuwal.
Similarly, the association had visited the Ministry of Labour and Employment and Department of Foreign Employment time and again to put forth its problems.
At a news conference, chairman of the Democratic Foreign Employment Forum, Bimal Dhakal, said that they were compelled to visit Chairman Regmi after the Ministry and Department of Foreign Employment did not listen to their problems.
More than four million people have gone to different countries in course of overseas employment from Nepal so far. RSS
