UML ready to defer elections for 15 days
A Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the CPN (UML) has decided to postpone the Constituent Assembly (CA) date for 15 days if the 33-party alliance led by CPN-Maoist agrees to take part in the election process.
The SC meeting held on Monday decided to extend the election date by 15 days time if consensus was forged with the agitating parties for holding the CA election by mid-December, UML Secretary Shankar Pokhrel said after the meeting.
He also said that party was keeping the records of wannabe candidates in the CA election and the next meeting would take a final decision regarding candidates.
The next SC meeting will take place on Tuesday.
Earlier, Nepali Congress had also hinted that it would support pushing the polls away for few weeks if a consensus is reached. nepalnews.com
