Army to be mobilised for upcoming CA election
At a time when CPN-Maoist and the alliance of poll-opposing parties it leads are threatening to disrupt the upcoming polls, the government has decided to mobilise the army during election to avert any untoward incident.
A meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) late Tuesday evening made a formal decision to this effect and recommend the same to the Cabinet.
The meeting, presided over by Interim Election Council chairman Khil Raj Regmi, decided to mobilse the Nepal Army as per the September 13 decision of NSC to approve the “Integrated Security Plan for the Constituent Assembly- 2070” for coordinated mobilisation of Nepal Army for the upcoming CA polls.
"As per the Interim Constitution of Nepal-2007, the Nepali Army will be mobilised (as in the previous elections) with a view to provide security during election in close coordination with all the security agencies," a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence late Tuesday night said. Nepalnews.com
