Election at any cost: Dahal
UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Wednesday that the elections will be held at any cost in the stipulated date of November 19 this year.
Speaking with journalists in Sindhuli, Dahal said the country has already moved into an electoral process and there is no backtracking. "Political parties and citizens have to be alert that the election indeed takes place in the scheduled date," he said.
Commenting on the recently held talks with the disgruntled alliance of smaller parties led by CPN-Maoist, Dahal said a consensus-based outlet is still possible if they decide to join the election.
"We have requested the Election Commission to provide seven to ten days for party registration and voter name enrollment if they join the electoral process," Dahal said, adding that the major parties can only request the Commission and it is up to Commission to take the final decision.
Dahal said an electoral alliance with CPN-M is possible. "But, for it to happen, they need to participate in election," he said. Dahal is in Sindhuli along with his deputies Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shrestha as part of the election campaign in Sindhuli. Nepalnews.com
