Govt renews call to poll-opposing parties to join election process
The government has renewed its call to the poll-opposing 33-party alliance led by CPN-Maoist to participate in the second Constituent Assembly election scheduled for November 19.
A cabinet meeting Friday urged the poll-opposing alliance to join the ongoing election process after concluding that elections were necessary to end the protracted political transition in the country and strengthen as well as institutionalize democracy.
The meeting also conveyed to the 33-party alliance the government’s commitment to bring the poll-opposing parties on board the election process at any cost.
However, the 33-party alliance of poll opposing parties say they won’t partake in the upcoming election until their demands of poll deferral and resignation of Interim Election Council chairman Khil Raj Regmi from the post of Chief Justice were met. Nepalnews.com
