Son of Ram Raja joins UCPN (Maoist), Mahendra Sherchan enters CPN (UML)
Dr Manoj Kumar Singh, who is the son of late pro-republican leader Ram Raja Prasad Singh, entered UCPN (Maoist) amid a function Friday.
Dr Singh, who is also the acting president of Nawa Janabadi Morcha was welcomed by UCPN (M) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and other leaders in the party's headquarter at Paris Danda, Koteshor.
Ram Raja was the Maoists' candidate for the post of first President of Republic Nepal after the election of the first Constituent Assembly in 2008. In 1985, Ram Raja was involved in bombing in Kathmandu to press for a republican set up. Ram Raja, then 76, died a year ago on 12 September, 2012.
Commenting on the entry of Ram Raja's son into UCPN (M), the party's senior leader Baburam Bhattarai claimed that the move will bring a new wave of change in the Terai-Madhes region. Nepalnews.com
Meanwhile, Mahendra Sherchan, the publisher of Rajdhani National Daily has entered CPN (UML).
UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal and senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and KP Oli welcomed Sherchan to their party amid a program in the party's headquarter at Balkhu.
