Three Star vs Turkmenistan’s Balkan in AFC President’s Cup today
Three Star Club (TSC) is set to take on Balkan Football Club of Turkmenistan in their inaugural match of the AFC President’s Cup 2013 in Melaka, Malaysia on Monday.
Three Star will take on Erchim of Mongolia on September 25 in their last group stage match.
The team, comprising 20 players and 12 officials, had left for Melaka to participate in AFC President’s Cup on Friday. The club, which played in the semi-finals of the inaugural edition of the competition back in 2005, are returning to the competition after eight years' hiatus.
TSC president Lalit Krishna Shrestha is confident about the team. He had said that the team will give their best to achieve good results.
Three Star remained unbeaten in the group stage matches this year and finished on top of the four-team group to advance to the finals. It set them up against Turkmenistan’s Balkan and Erchim of Mongolia.
“This is really a good experience to be back in the AFC President’s Cup after a long absence and is the most exciting moment for us to be in the finals,” said Three Star Club coach’s Pradip Humagai during a press conference held in Melaka on Sunday.
Humagai added: “We will play our games to win and we will try to make this comeback a momentous one for Three Star Club.” nepalnews.com
