Meaningful efforts required to bring CPN-M into election process: RPP chairman Thapa
Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Surya Bahadur Thapa said on Monday that the government and the High Level Political Committee need to make meaningful efforts to bring the CPN-Maoist into the election process.
Speaking at a press conference organized at RPP Chairman Thapa's residence in Kathmandu, he said if the election is held without bringing the ex-rebels in the process, it would not disseminate good message. Thapa also urged the CPN-Maoist to participate in the CA election giving up all partisan interests, according to RSS.
The CA election that is held without the participation of all political parties cannot provide an outlet from the current political transition and question over the legacy to such election would be possibly raised.
Thapa, also a former Prime Minister, claimed that the efforts made to bring the CPN-Maoist and other poll opposing political parties into the election process were not taken ahead in a positive and creative manner.
Responding to a query about his candidacy in the Constituent Assembly election, Thapa said he will not contest the poll as a direct candidate due to age and will give the opportunity to the young generation of his party.
Thapa said the RPP has already started its election campaign and stressed on the need to hold the election in the stipulated time. nepalnews.com
