Police enforces special security plan ahead of festive season
The Kathmandu Metropolitan Police on Tuesday launched a special security plan targeting the main festive season of Nepalis - Dashain and Tihar.
The security plan, at one hand, aims to curtail criminal activities, while on the other it targets to foil any challenge posed against the police's security plan.
"We will mobilize at least 8,000 additional security personnel in Kathmandu valley during Dashain and Tihar," said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Biswo Raj Singh Shahi of the Metropolitan Police.
"Security vigil and alertness will be enhanced during this festive period especially in sensitive areas, including banks and other financial institutes," said Hemanta Pal, spokesperson of the same department, adding that police will intensify search operations and monitoring during the period.
According to police records, incidents of crime generally record an upward trend during Dashain and Tihar and therefore, an especial plan is required every year to check the crime. The nature of crimes occurring during the period generally includes theft, burglary and robbery, among others. Nepalnews.com
