Nepal beat Bahrain 2-0 in AFC Cup Qualifiers 2013
Host Nepal defeated Bahrain 2-0 in the ongoing AFC Cup Qualifiers 2013 held at Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday. This was opening match of the tournament for both the teams.
Anjan Bista and Ananta Tamang scored one goal each to give Nepal 2-0 victory in the first half. Bista scored an opening goal in the early 12th minute while Tamang's header through the free-kick of Bimal Gharti Magar in the three minute extra time helped Nepal double the tally.
In the competitive match, Nepal’s goalie Roman Rasaili saved couple of good attempts at goal by the formidable opponent Bahrain.
Bahrain’s Hazem was shown red card after fouling Bimal Gharti Magar in the injury time of the match.
Now, Nepal will take on mighty Iraq in another match of the tournament on Friday. Iraq has beaten Turkmenistan 8-1 in the inaugural match of the tournament today itself.
Nepal has been drawn alongside Iraq, Bahrain and Turkmenistan in Group C. nepalnews.com
