Pashupati head priest’s resignation based on personal reasons
The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has said that the Mulbhatta or the main priest of the Pashupatinath temple, Mahabaleshworam, had tendered his resignation citing personal reasons.
The main priest has tendered his resignation and the PADT has circulated it to the Chairman of the PADT and the Minister for Culture for its approval after holding discussion in the meeting of board of directors.
Member Secretary of PADT, Dr. Govinda Tondon, said a provision allows resignation of the main priest after patrons and Chairman of the Council of Ministers approve it through the Chairman of PADT.
Stating that the main priest has tendered his resignation showing personal reason, Tondon clarified that there was no truth in controversies regarding the head priest’s resignation.

The PADT has made arrangements of one main priest and three priests at Pashupati temple and one priest at Basuki temple to conduct regular rituals. There is a tradition to conduct regular rituals at temple after bringing main priest and other priests from India.
