T20 Nat’l Cricket: Debutante Army wins; APF unbeaten
Debutante Tribhuvan Army Club made a flying start after defeating Region No. 6 (Baitadi) by 22 runs in its first match of the in the ongoing Pepsi Standard Chartered Senior T20 National Cricket Tournament on Sunday.
In the first inning held at TU Ground, Army Club set a target of 102 runs losing all the wickets in 19.1 overs. Indra Kamal Manandhar scored 26 runs and Naresh Budhayer scored 25 runs.
However, Baitadi was all out for 79 runs in 14.5 overs as Rahul Vishwakarma alone grabbed four wickets for winning side. Vishwakarma was also announced player of the match.
Similarly, Armed Police Force (APF) defeated Region No. 7 (Janakpur) by 137 runs in another match of the day held at the same ground to remain unbeaten. Janakpur could score only 62 runs losing seven wickets against the target of 200 runs set by APF.
Shakti Gauchan took three wickets while Bhuwan Karki claimed two wickets for winning team. Similarly, Paresh Lohani made a half-century scoring 56 runs, Paras Khadka 36 runs, Gyanendra Malla 33 runs and Sharad Vesawkar 28 runs. Gauchan received player of the match award.
In another match of the day, Region No. 2 (Birgunj) defeated Region No. 5 (Nepalgunj) by 14 runs to secured third win after playing four matches.
After electing to bat first, Birgunj scored 143 runs losing eight wickets in 20 overs as Amit Shrestah made a half-century scoring 54 runs. While chasing the target, Nepalgunj could make only 129 runs with the loss of five wickets. nepalnews.com
