According to the work calendar of the Election Commission (EC), all political parties had been notified to submit their application for their participation under proportional electoral system. Party representatives had gathered that the EC office in Kantipath from 10 am today to submit their applications. According to Election Commissioner Dolakh Bahadur Gurung more than 70 parties had submitted their application as of 3pm and the process is underway.
Based on the applications submitted today, the EC will publish a list of political parties that will participate under the proportional electoral system on Tuesday. Election symbols will be allocated on October 3.
There are 139 parties registered at the Election Commission. The deadline today was extended on request of the government and political parties.
