  • NCC Bank has started e-banking under which the customers can check their account balance. The bank says it is going to add more facilities under it.
  • Malika Development Bank has opened extension counters in Sanfe Bagar and Mangalsen of Achham district.
  • NIC Bank has opened a branch at Lahan and another at Battisputali of Kathmandu increasing the number of its branches to 16. The bank says its next branches are scheduled to be opened at Dhangadhi.
  • Machhapuchhre Bank has opened a branch at Dhankuta Bazar, which is the 19th branch of the bank. The bank says it is planning to open one branch in Ilam very soon and then other branches at Narayangarh, Butwal and Lakeside (Pokhara).
  • Nepal Development and Employment Promotion Bank (NDEP) has opened a branch at Koteswor of Kathmandu. The bank had opened another branch at Dhulikhel a few weeks ago. According to the bank, it is planning to open two more branches.
  • Chaudhary Group has brought to the market Kwik's Cheese Rings marketing it with the baseline “Rings you have fun with”. Targeted mainly to the children, “the product not only carries the freshness of cheese in it but also a shape that you can play with while eating,” says a press release from the company.

  • “Defining snacks on the basis of taste has been a general trend in Nepal but Cheese Rings take a step forward by focusing more on the fun aspect that tends to come in, when engaging with snack foods of this kind,” adds the press release.

  • Sony Ericsson, described as one of the five largest mobile manufactures in the world, has announced official presence in the Nepali market by appointing Future Tech Trade Pvt. Ltd. as its authorized distributor. With this Future Tech has launched a range of Sony Ericsson’s Walkman, Cyber-shot TM and new-generation business phones. Among six new models Sony Ericsson phones now available in Nepal include two Walkman phones and two Cyber-shotTM
  • Sunrise Bank has opened a branch at Gabahal of Patan which is the sixth branch of the bank in the country.
  • Nepa Hima Trade Link (P) Ltd. has started selling in the Nepali market Sony Cybershot with ‘Smile Shutter,’ an enhanced technology. One special function of the new camera is when activated, it wait until the object smiles and automatically snap the smiling picture.
  • Vijay Motors Pvt. Ltd., the sole distributor for General Motors for Nepal, launched Subaru Forester 09, a premium luxury all wheel drive sports utility vehicle manufactured in Japan by Fuji Heavy Industries Limited. Called as the new generation Subaru Forester, this model comes packed with some cool features: SRS Circle Surround Audio, Reclining Rear Seats, Multifunctional Center Console, Airbags and Underfloor Cargo-Area Storage. It has the Subaru Boxer engine, which also got ‘The Best Engine Award 2008’ and an exceptional gas mileage and emissions control. Distributor for renowned Opel and Chevrolet brands for Nepal, Vijay Motors has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and announced the opening of its new 3S Facility at Naxal, Bhagwati Marg and a new showroom at Pulchowk, which will get a service station soon. In collaboration with Netwrok Security Solutions (NSS), one of the leading Information Security Management System consulting and service providers with its corporate office in Malaysia, Innovative PPL located at Tripureshwor, has introduced SecretSMS, a application through which users can send secure messages to friends, colleagues and intimate ones. It offers password locking system for messages in SecretSMS inbox and provides strong security to messages transmitting through wireless medium. This application can be used in all the mobile sets possessing J2ME (JAVA) technology. Innovative PPL has launched this application in association with local mobile operators. For now, it is available for NTC subscribers for Rs. 50 per month as subscription charge. As Innovative PPL has stated in its press release, they are planning to extend the service to the subscribers of other mobile operators as well.
  • Morang Auto Works, the sole distributor of Yamaha Motorcycles in Nepal, has launched the much awaited Superbike, Yamaha YZF-R1. Claimed by the company as superlative engineering innovation, R1 is priced at NRs.1.55 million and is powered by a 1000cc liquid cooled in-line four cylinder engine. The company says the bike, offers superb controllability because of the use of race track innovations such as YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) and YCC-I (Yamaha Chip Controlled-Intake air funnels), developed from Yamaha's involvement in race tracks such as Moto-GP. Acording to the company, use of linear horsepower enhances man-machine interaction. Slipper-type back torque-limiting clutch facilitates braking and downshifting from high speed. Dual 310mm front discs; radial mount forged 6 piston calipers and rear 220 mm disc and single piston caliper generate strong breaking power, says the company.
  • Spice brand of mobile sets from India are now available in Nepali market as well offering choice of Nepali singtones. Teletalk Pvt. Ltd. is the authorized distributor for these sets in Nepal, according to a press release. Among the sets available in Nepal include Dual Spice D88n, providing GSM and CDMA service in the same set while D90 that allows two GSM simcards to function simultaneously is upcoming, states the release. Also available are the “FM Spice S-525” and “Monospice S-415” described as price friendly sets. Ready to launch are S-570 (folder phone) and S-650, which have MP3 players with FM. These sets are available in market at prices ranging from Rs 2000 to Rs 15000, says the release.
