Kohler Co., a global leader in kitchen and bath design, recently announced its entry into Nepali market by launching a wide range of bathroom products through its local authorized distributor Bajra and Bajracharya Enterprises. The stylish and innovative bathroom products include toilet, lavatory, faucet, bathtub, whirlpool and shower accessories. The US based company's first showroom is located at Baneshwor which was inaugurated by US Ambassador to Nepal Nancy Powell. The products are currently imported from Kohler's production facilities in Europe, US, Thailand and China and they will be sold in Nepal at competitive prices, a press statement released by the company said.
LOMUS Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. (Lomus) has become the first Nepali pharmaceutical company to manufacture hormonal contraceptives following the launch of its three hormonal contraceptives—Femicon, Femitrone and Feminor into the market. According to the released press statement, the launch of the three superior quality contraceptives will make Nepal more self sufficient in terms of public health commodities. Lomus had earlier received approval from Drug Development Authority for the development and manufacturing of the pills and succeeded to develop and manufacture after signing into public-private partnership model with USAID funded Nepal Social Marketing and Franchising Project namely AIDS, Reproductive Health and Child Survival (N-MARC). The company also stated that it will launch a marketing campaign through FM radios and print and outdoor media about the utility of its breakthrough products. Lomus is a WHO GMP, ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2004 certified pharmaceutical company.
Padma Shree Pvt. Ltd. has unveiled new form of generator named Deutz ADG Gensets in Nepali market. According to the company these Air Cooled Diesel generators (ADG) operate through three, four and six cylinders engines and supply power automatically. The generators are categorized into Basic, Classic, Comfort and Comfort plus depending upon their power production capacity. The ‘Readable Display’ mechanism installed in the control system of the generators helps to monitor and control generators’ engine. The Deutz Gensets are also available in soundproofing and open frame structure, says the company.
Laxmi Bank recently concluded its first ‘Mountain Bike Rally 2009’ with the theme-‘Ride your way for a healthy life’. The program was the initiative of ‘Niswartha Pahal’, an NGO run by the bank’s employees. Proceeds of the program will be donated to Patan Hospital.
Ace Development Bank has launched a high-interest yielding 'Ace Rhino Saving Account'. Along with the launch, the bank has also announced the one-horned rhino as the official mascot of the bank.
According to the company, the initiative of using the one horned rhino is an attempt to motivate the people to shield this unique Nepali wild animal from the risk of extinction.
CEO of the bank, Siddhanta Raj Pandey explained that the account is targeted to the children to encourage them to develop a saving habit. The account offers the children a rhino structured toy-kit to entice them towards the account.
Pandey also revealed that the bank has forwarded a proposal to National Zoo Centre to jointly contribute in the protection of the one horned rhino. On the same day, the bank also launched ACE Visa Debit Card that can be used in Nepal and India.
The ACE Rhino Saving Account is being promoted through an animated TVC featuring the rhino and a squirrel. According to Pandey, the animated TVC was produced by a Nepali production company.
Meanwhile, the bank has inked a deal with Nepal Children's Association under which the bank will provide annual scholarships to some diligent students among those sheltered by the association. The bank will also provide fruits and sweets once in a month to the children sheltered by the association, says a press statement released by the bank.

Etihad Airways has unveiled new flight schedules for the coming monsoon season. The new departure time from Kathmandu to Abu Dhabi has been fixed at 9:40 p.m. on Sundays and Fridays and 5:40 p.m. on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Similarly, the Etihad aircrafts will fly to Kathmandu from Abu Dhabi at 2:10 a.m. on Sundays and 10 p.m. on Fridays.

Purbanchal Gramin Bikash Bank is preparing to upgrade itself into a commercial bank within six months. The bank, whose shares were recently listed in the stock exchange, has already given impetus to procedures for the upgrade, informed the bank’s CEO Shyam Dev Yogi. Currently, the bank has 30 branches and the paid up capital of Rs 800 million. Yogi also informed that the bank is planning to slim down its NPA which currently stands at three percent.
