Photos' Of Far West

By A CORRESPONDENT

As Nepal is celebrating a nationwide program to boost tourist arrival next year, there is a need to introduce a new destination to new comer tourists. The recently organized photo exhibition showed that the far western region will be proper for next round of tourism promotion activities in Nepal.

For a long time, Nepal's tourism industry was confined to eastern, central and western region of the country. As it was linked to the western region, some places of midwestern region including Humla and Dolpa too are receiving some prominence.

Although the far western region has many things to attract tourists, only a few efforts have been made to lure the tourists in these destinations. From Saipal Himalayan range for trekking to mighty rivers like Seti and Mahakali, there are number of things. Culturally, the far western region of Nepal has its own ethnic and cultural vividness.

The Tharu culture of far western region consists of special peculiarity which is different than the rest of the country. Similarly, the Deuda culture of far western region is unique and distinct.

Similarly, the two national parks and wildlife reserves provide a good opportunity to see the world's some endangered species including the wild elephant, royal Bengal tiger and largest herd of swamp deer. Shuklaphata national park and wild life reserve has some unique kinds of flora and fauna.

Situated in the high hills of Doti district, Khaptad National Park has its own importance in terms of protection of wildlife and flora and fauna. Apart from Dhangadhi, the gate way to far western region, is connected by flight from Kathmandu, there are well connected road networks to cater to tourists.

At a time when Nepal is making efforts to extend the stay of tourists in Nepal, promoting the far western region can serve many interests. In the last few years, the number of tourists visiting Shuklaphata national park increased but it is still too small to bring the tangible change in the life of rural people.

Along with all these facilities, one can see a number of wetlands in the far western region where a large number of migratory birds visit annually. In the photo exhibition, the number of photographs depicted the beauty of far western region.

From human face to cultural activities and endangered wildlife, the Saipal Himalayas and mighty snow fed rivers really boasted the beauty of far western region.

The photographs were colorful as well as full of meaning of life. They were able to portray the cultural significance of far western region as well as beauty of nature. The photographs cover the wide range of far western region.

The Saipal Himalayan range and the picture of Khaptad National park clearly depicted the beautiful places existing in the far western region. Likewise, the picture of human faces show the diversity of ethnic and cultural groups.

Since it is very close from Indian capital New Delhi, far western region can hosts number of Indian tourists.

The photographers are quite capable to depict all these diversity and interesting places to the audience. These efforts will even encourage Nepalese tourists to visit there. Provided the peace and tranquility, the photo exhibition show that far west can turn into a good tourism destination for local as well as international tourists.
