How to tackle Terrorism?

By MADHAV KUMAR RIMAL

Terrorism is the worst menace plaguing the world today. Innocent peoples are losing their precious lives for no reason. The sooner this evil is rooted out, the better world will become for the poor, the under privileged and the victimized peoples. Since this scourge has very deep roots and is being continuously fed by racial hatreds, political rivalries and insatiable greed of the mighty mafias, it is beyond the capabilities of the ordinary humans to rid the world of this terror. And even more important is there is no ready and easy solution might have failed to tackle it successfully. It has only aggravated the miseries and sufferings of humanity go a more humane way has to be found and must be applied with utmost sincerity honesty and understanding. Only humanitarian considerations will be able to make any dent in its impenetrable armour. With the historic election of Barrack Obama as the president of the United States of America, a ray of optimism and hope is being seen in the horizon. Obama seems to have the entire wherewithal- the means the will and the purpose for tackling this ineradicable disease. But, this is not the only challenge he has to face. As the most powerful man in the world, he has also to confront with most powerful challenges. His determination to meet unprecedented challenges with unprecedented measures "has failed the hearts of millions of all over the world with great optimism. But, Obama must not over look that, at every step there would be pitfalls. He need not be told that both the Middle-east and the Taliban problems have no military solutions. Also there would be very powerful and influential groups in his own country who would pressurise him to use force. But, both these issues have defined the application of force for a very long time centuries made might powers eats humble pies. As such, it would be utterly non-producing and foolish to continue with it. Force brings devastation and loss of human lives and breeds only hatred racial contempt and revenge. Even if the war is won by force, it cannot ensure stable peace because the roots stay there and sprout up after some time generating even greater enmity. Some time generating even greater enmity. Lasting peace can only be achieved if hearts are won. And it is for the powerful and mighty to show restraint, understanding and magnamity. The colossal amount of money that is wasted on the hardware used in the war against tension can be put to better use-kippering the aggrieved. Even the diehard anti-American Muslim states like Iran have softened down after thirty years and seems to be expecting positive actions from Barak Obama.

And no nation or people resort to terrorism after they become rich. The small and the weak often times are swayed by their helplessness and their vision is apt to get blurred. They must not be penalised for this most common deficiency. By failing to understand his simple train in human character for what ever reason, the big and mighty commit mistakes which turn into insoluble and unsurmont which turn into insoluble and insurmountable problems, eating out the very victuals of human patience and endurance and generating unimaginable miseries. Since no particular nation or individual can be held responsible for the state of terrorism in the present day world as its origin is shrouded in history, it has become the unbounded duty and utter responsibility of world leaders to jointly work to uproot it for all time to come. Indeed it is a tall order and very unlikely to be achieved easily. But, there should be no misconception whatsoever that is high time sincere endeavours were started immediately. And no one is better equipped than Barrack Obama to make that beginning. Indeed, the former U.S. administration id aggravate the vicious problems by insulting the Islamists in Quntanmo and Abu Ghariel to the earnest of even shaving humanity. The rectification of much abominable acts has now fallen on Obama's shoulders. Fortunately, Obama has a distinct advantage to take up the challenges with an unsoiled image, a clean state, cooperative environment and the huge good will oozing out for him from all over the world. Obama has not only restored the human dignity amongst the victims but also to reassure the stable Muslims that the U.S. people are not unfriendly and anti Islamic is at the moment. And it is quite gratifying to see that Obama has already mad a heartening start. The Muslim world too has to play its role if they are really knee to become partners in establishing lasting peace in the world. Obama deserves some reasonable respite in the terrorist activities to prove his sincerity and fulfill his commitment. Moreover, this is not the only problem that demands his immediate attention. The global economic recession, if not addressed at the earlier and brought under control, will spell greater disaster for the world, specially for the poor third world. As such, the world leaders cannot afford to let this favourable opportunity of ushering in good will and understanding slip out of their hands. They must not fail to realise that such positive atmosphere to sink in their rivalries does not come their way very often. Barrack Obama has the biggest stakes and biggest responsibility. The world is expectantly watching him rise up to its expectations so that the poor people may look up to a better life, free from the fears of untimely deaths and unbearable disastrous. Obama cannot and should not fail them. Indeed, he must have enormous national constraints too. He must find ways to defend his nation's interests as well as secure peace for the poor people of the world. With the unflinching cooperation of all peace loving peoples of the world, only the President of the United States of America can work to change the world to a better place, by securing a lasting peace through dialogues and understanding.
