After the visits of Nepalese leaders including by Nepali Congress leader Girija Prasad Koirala and former monarch in New Delhi, there is panic among the Maoists leaders about their future. Their panic showed that something is cooking somewhere else. Even prime minister Prachanda felt threat from this recent visit. r. Nearly six months in office the prime minister is still to win the trust and confidence of the people in general. Except the Maoists cadres and leaders, very few of the twenty five million Nepalis have developed any regard for him. He too is behaving as the prime minister of the Maoists only. His failure to live up to his commitment of resorting the looted properties to their rightful owners and curbing the parallel government like behavior of his party men has not contributed to add any height to his ordinary stature. And the most recent statement by a very senior Indian statesman that it is because of them the Maoists are leading the government in Nepal at the moment has not added an inch to their small image. Their deliberate unwillingness to adapt their behavior to democratic practices has exposed their inborn intention of imposing the totalitarian regime on the people which is totally against the genius of the country and cannot be acceptable to the overwhelming masses. The behavior of his junior leaders and ordinary party men and their indiscreet outbursts clearly reflect their undisciplined behavior. Despite the decade long devastations and killings of thousands of innocent countrymen, the poor Nepalis readily gave the Maoists their benefit of doubt and expected a clean, honest and patriotic rule from them when they were installed as the leader in the coalition government. But the Maoists, being obsessed with the idea to impose undemocratic extremist ideology failed to win the trust, confidence and regard of the Nepali people. Moreover, the persisting lawlessness, derailed social life and the parallel government by the Maoist sister organization have further widened the gulf between the Maoists and the rest of the country. The Maoist leaders being apprehensive that they might be dethroned on account of their all round failure are threatening to capture power. . The big shame with the first historical coalition government under the Maoist leadership in the first Republic has been the indecent haste the Maoists seem to be obsessed with to impose their ideologically unfit totalitarian system on the country. This only proves their naiveté. Aren’t they aware of the real politicks of the country? Have they also forgotten so soon how they have arrived where they are now? They surely are not that ignorant as not to know how politics is played in Nepal and how the politicians are expected to behave
