Hidden facts

This refers to the article titled: "Punctuating Druk regime", dated May 6, 2003, TKP.

I appreciate Bista for unraveling some of the hidden facts and issues which are important to understand the importance of the institution of Sabdrung Rimpoche in Bhutan. Shabdrung institution commands respect from all Bhutanese irrespective of race and religion. The institution is important for Nepal as there existed "Patron and Priest" relationship between the Dharma raja of Bhutan and the Shah kings of Nepal. Also, it will be in Bhutan’s interest to respect the institution, if the country’s unique identity is to be protected and promoted. Despite all these, Shabdrung’s reincarnations have suffered at the hands of the Wangchuck dynasty in Bhutan and the article clearly shed prospective. It would be in the interest of Bhutan’s history to conduct proper investigation on the mysterious death of the Shabdrung Jigme Nawang Namgyal in Vallore, India, who was a refugee under the protection of government of India since the early 1960s.
