Beat the Inflation & Enjoy Community Housing
While cold drink companies are coming up with various schemes to help you beat this summer’s heat, you may be sweating more for the inflation that is projected to rise further in the coming days. Though the future looks bleak, I would certainly not recommend you to carry on a grim face, as it is part of the Nepali life today. Instead, I suggest you to call for your pipe, your beer and your discount cards. Here’s what you can do to prepare yourself to beat the ongoing inflation.
Eat a whole lot now
Now’s the time to load up on those culinary treats you may not be able to afford in the future, like breakfast, lunch and dinner. A simple future value analysis will demonstrate that by factoring a 3.4% increase per year, the cost of five-plate future buff momo will buy you 5.7 plates today. Simple example is that if you put your money at any commercial bank they will offer you 2% interest whereas the inflation rate of our money today is nearing 5% annually and it is expected to go higher. So consume as much as possible today.
Grow your own food
Why should we depend on Indian, Thai or Vietnamese rice? Why should we Kathmanduites even depend on some anonymous farmer in Chitwan or Jhapa to put the rice and dal on our family dinner table? Forget about the so called opportunities being offered to us by the increased trade relation between India and China. Tear out that unproductive front yard lawn and replace it with a colorful mélange of rice, wheat, soybeans, carrots and spinaches. You may also opt for a cowshed and a hen coop. You’ll know the true meaning of financial independence when your neighbors are starving and you can enjoy the home grown green vegetables, cereals, milk and meat. You can even develop your own menu, more exotic than what the restaurants serve.
Start trading in futures
Financial experts always suggest trading in futures and gain by speculation. With all the jumping and the screaming that goes on at the annual general meetings of the financial institutions, I hope at least now you don’t want to buy the share of the banks on the basis of the information provided by the companies, the Nepal Stock Exchange and our stock brokers. Rather, buy the shares of Necon (Never Conning) Air, Taragaon (star village) Hotels (located as far away as the star village, remember how long it takes to reach there from your city center office) and some garvent (garbage vent) companies. Actually they are the best future options, according to the close source of the Loyal Place.
Move to community homes
These are the other fantastic futures! Cut out the middleman! Buy the houses in installments directly from the company agent. In the first installment you get the chance to see the beautifully sketched artistic view of the nice European style villas. In the second, you will see the gigantic concrete superstructure being erected. But, be careful and don’t spoil the joy by starting to inquire about where did vanish the open green space that you were shown in the first installment! In third, you will be shown around the flat that is going to be yours in the near future, though it will be delayed just because the developer is arranging the finances to give the finishing touches here and there. Then you may surely be tempted to make some payments to ease the provider of your dream house from his financial difficulties so that you may be nestled in your cozy little community house very soon. After the fourth or fifth installments, you will be given the key and you may start enjoying the good life in community homes. It will surely be peaceful, because all the other would-be neighbors of yours will not be as clever as you to make all the payments and take the keys. So you may enjoy a lifetime experience of a live horror movie, free of cost. You may also get the pleasant surprise of purely organic soil coming out of the walls so that you can practice growing some vegetables within your kitchen and bedrooms. You will also have the experience of how to mend new houses immediately after you start to live in. So you can start right now planning for writing a book on the subject. Believe me, it will be a runaway success.
