Some three dozen plastic companies based in Sunsari and Morang have faced closure due to their inability to compete with Indian products.
Only 15 plastic companies of both small and large scale out of 60 are currently in operation.
According to concerned entrepreneurs, power outage, frequent strikes and the move on the part of the government to impose a 10 percent custom charge as well as extra 5 percent as VAT on plastic products have wrecked havoc with plastic companies.
Till some years back, plastic products manufactured in Sunsari and Morang were exported to India and China. nepalnews.com
