NTY-2011 launched in Paris

Nepal Embassy, Paris and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) jointly organised a launching program of "Nepal Tourism Year 2011" (NTY-2011) on November 15, 2010 in Paris.

On the occasion, the first French man and woman to ascent Mt. Everest, Pierre Mazeaud and Dr. Christian Janin, were honoured with letter of felicitation and also appointed as goodwill ambassadors of NTY-2011 by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Minister of Tourism & Civil aviation Sharat Singh Bhandari.

They also pledged their support for NTY-2011 and their role as goodwill ambassadors for NTY-2011.

Besides them, Jean Afanasieff, another Everest summiteer from France was also honoured as goodwill ambassador of NTY-2011.

Speaking at the function, Mohan Krishna Shrestha, ambassador of Nepal to France, emphasised the committment of Nepal embassy in Paris to promote NTY-2011 in France.

During the program, Diwakar B. Rana, manager of NTB made a presentation on Nepal as a tourist destination as well as highlighted the upcoming NTY-2011.

French travel trade, media and those connected with Nepal and tourism were present at the program and a typical Nepalese dinner was served to the guests at the end of the program, according to NTB. nepalnews.com
