The Public Account Committee (PAC) of the parliament has advised the government to allow the seven resorts inside Chitwan National Park (CNP) to continue operation for three more years.

A meeting of the committee held Saturday morning advised the government to allow the operation of the hotels and resorts keeping in view Nepal Tourism Year 2011 and the investment of the hotel owners.

The hotels and resorts were shut down after the completion of a 16-year contract with the government since July.

The committee has also issued stringent directives to the government not to allow any hotels or resorts inside the national park after the extended contract period ends on July 15, 2012.

PAC has also advised the government to compensate or provide extra privileges if the hotels wish to shift outside CPN within a year.

The hotels operating inside CNP include Island Jungle Resort, Temple Tigers, Tiger Tops, Safari Narayani, Chitwan Jungle Lodge, Machan Wildlife Resort and Gaida Wildlife Camp. nepalnews.com
