Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that the government can not provide petroleum products below its buying rates.
Addressing Naldum festival in Nagarkot, Bhaktapur on Tuesday, PM Bhattarai said that as the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) is bearing huge loss in the retail of the petroleum products every year, the government can’t afford the loss anymore.
Saying that the protest over the price hike in the petroleum product was not appropriate, he said the fuel price is fixed as per the buying rate from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
However, PM Bhattarai assured to provide subsidy to the students and poor community in the petroleum products soon. nepalnews.com
