Minister for Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta has said the shortage of petroleum will be overcome within couple of days.

Minister Bhatta said this while speaking at the meeting with Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the legislature parliament on Tuesday.

The PAC had called Bhatta along with Nepal Corporation (NOC) officials to answer questions surrounding the present shortage of petroleum products.

The NOC has increased the supply from Sunday as the Citizens Investment Trust (CIT) has already released some Rs. 1 billion to NOC to import petroleum products of the total agreed loan assistance of Rs. 2 billion on the government guarantee.

It is learnt that consignments of 501,200 litres of petrol and 602,200 litres of diesel entered Kathmandu on Sunday while 300,000 litres of petrol and 350,000 litres of diesel was imported on Monday. nepalnews.com
