Unilever Nepal, an Indian joint venture factory, has resumed its operation after the agreement between its management and the workers from Thursday.
The multinational company based in Hetauda was shut down by the trade unions affiliated to UCPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress since February 4, demanding hike in the salary and other allowance.
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai had also urged both the parties to resume the operation of the factory by maintaining flexibility in the dialogue.
Earlier, several rounds of talks held under the initiative of different business bodies to resume the operation of the factory had failed.
The company manufactures products like beauty cream (Fair & Lovely), soaps (Lux), Shampoos and toothpaste. nepalnews.com
