Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has plunged by 4.62 points to settle at 310.79 points during the five trading days from Sunday to Thursday last week.

The market had opened at 315.42 points on Sunday and it increased to 313.84 points and 313.92 points on Monday and Tuesday, respectively while the index followed a downward trend to 313.04 points and 310.79 points on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Last week, NEPSE traded with 120 companies registering the turnover of Rs. 201.35 million through 4494 transactions while it had traded with 107 companies registering Rs. 81.1 million through 2845 transactions from three trading days (Sunday to Tuesday) the previous week.

Of the total transaction, Group A companies alone contributed Rs. 158.5 million which is 77.89 percent of the total turnover.

As per the sub-indices of all the groups, commercial bank, other group, hydropower, finance groups witnessed negative growth by 6.71 points, 4.70 points, 2.32 points and 1.01 points, respectively while hotel, insurance and development banks are in the positive growth by 0.19 points, 1.65 points and 0.01 points, respectively.

Everest Bank (Rs. 102.29 million), Bank of Kathmandu (Rs. 18.93 million), Chilime Hydropower Company Limited (Rs.12.06 million), Nepal Telecommunication Company (Rs. 11.44 million), and Siddhartha Bank (Rs. 6.22 million) were the top five companies to witness the highest transaction last week. nepalnews.com
