The NEPSE index has been moving positively this week following the breakthrough in the peace process.
The NEPSE index surged by 17.16 points to close at 354.51 points on Monday, which is more than the target set by the government. The government had aimed to bring the index to 350 points in the current fiscal year.
After the index went 5 percent up, NEPSE had to impose circuit breaker for the rest of the day on Monday.
As per the existing provision, NEPSE can impose circuit breaker for 15 minutes if the index increases over 3 percent. Similarly, after the first circuit breaker, if NEPSE index surged by 4 percent, second breaker is announced for 30 minutes and third one is announced for rest of the day if the index goes up by more than 5 percent.
The index has surged by 17.41 points on Sunday while it had increased by over 10 points on Thursday last week. The NEPSE had also imposed circuit breaker on Sunday for three times. nepalnews.com
