The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index plunged by 17.04 points to settle at 411.40 points on Thursday, the last trading day compared to the first trading day Monday’s 428.44 points last week.

The secondary stock market has been witnessing continuous fluctuation following the recent political development.

Though the index had gained 24 points on Monday, the first trading day of this week as Sunday was a public holiday due to Buddha purnima and gained 4 points further  on Tuesday, the remaining Wednesday and Thursday posted negative growth of 13.05 points and 8.38 points, respectively.

As per the NEPSE sub indices, commercial banks posted negative gain of 29.33 points, other group 4.40 points, trading 7.01 points, insurance 1.39 points and development bank 0.45 points. However, finance posted positive gain of meager 1.12 points, over a week.

Manufacturing and hotel groups remained unchanged at 667.28 points and 437.31 points, respectively.

Last week, NEPSE traded with 114 companies registering the transaction of over Rs. 644.7 million through 6256 transactions while it had traded with 144 companies registering the transaction of over Rs. 329.4 million through 4831 transactions the previous week.

Of the total transaction amount, Group A companies alone contributed Rs. 394.5 million which is 95.67 percent of the total turnover.

Sanima Bank (Rs. 122.06 million), Bank of Kathmandu (Rs. 88.43 million), Everest Bank (Rs. 34.39 million), Laxmi Bank (Rs. 23.90 million) and Chileme Hydropower Company (Rs. 23.60 million) were the top five companies to register the highest transaction last week. Nepalnews.com
