A meeting of the ministers and lawmakers hailing from Dhanusha and Mahattori has decided to adopt necessary steps to upgrade the Janakpur Airport.
The enhancement of the Janakpur Airport to International Airport is aimed at directly connecting the southern part of the country to Gulf countries.

According to Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Sharat Singh Bhandari, the plan was made as part of the first phase to develop Janakpur as a town with religious and tourism significance.
The government plans to extend the airport“s existing 1300-meter runway to 1,600 meters.
