India has written a letter to the foreign ministry expressing concern over the quality of Machine Readable Passports (MRP)s Nepal is printing through French company Oberther Technologies, Nagarik daily reported.

In a letter written by the Indian embassy in Kathmandu to the foreign ministry earlier this week, it has asked Nepal to ensure quality in the security features of the passports.

India requests Nepal government not to issue passports with weak security features, mentions the letter.

India expressed concern over the quality of MRPs to be printed by the French company based on media reports that the French company was using a sub-standard printer.

Foreign ministry has already began an investigation on the quality of MRPs to be printed by Obertur based on a complain by Indonesian company Perum Peruri and the instruction of the legislature parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC). nepalnews.com
