Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the legislature parliament has instructed all ministries to clear their arrears within a month and to publish the names of those who fail to do so.
PAC called a meeting of all government secretaries including chief secretary Madhav Prasad Ghimire on Friday and instructed them to clear the arrears.
The House committee also warned, the chief accounting officer of concerned ministries would be held responsible if the arrears were not cleared before the deadline.
The arrears include non-clearance of amount received in advance, payment to the state coffer without completing legal procedures and causing damages and losses to the state property.
Ministries of finance, physical planning and works, local development, home and defence have the maximum arrears among the ministries. These ministries have cleared only 30 per cent of the arrears. nepalnews.com
