Baidya loyalist combatants agree to go with regrouping process in Rolpa cantonment; delays, disruption in Chitwan,  Sindhuli, Ilam

People's Liberation Army (PLA) combatants loyal to Maoist vice chairman Mohan Baidya have agreed to allow the regrouping process to go smoothly at Dahaban cantonment site in Rolpa district.

The 'dissident' combatants agreed to cooperate in the regrouping process after peace minister and Maoist leader Satya Pahadi and senior PLA commanders clarified the action plan on integration, rehabilitation and voluntary retirement and requested them to help the survey officials to continue their duties. With the agreement, regrouping will start in Dahaban from Sunday.

The Baidya loyalists were complaining that the integration is being done unfairly, warning not to take part in the regrouping process. Along with them, some combatants with physical disability have also expressed dissatisfaction over the packages offered by the government.

Likewise, the process started with some interruption at cantonments in Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Sindhuli and Ilam amid delays as
results of the first day's work are still being compiled until late evening, according to RSS.

Recording of preferences didn't get off in Kailali in the far-West where recording of three choices will start Sunday;/ difficulties were encountered in Surkhet as well.

Similarly, inclement weather, lack of internet connection, improper supporting documents hindered the recording process and other technical and logictisc problems disrupted or delayed the process.

The survey officials who reached cantonment sites on Thursday have started regrouping in six other cantonments from Saturday.

Meanwhile, Maoist PLA Spokesman Chandra Prakash Khanal said the Maoist combatants have been enthusiastically cooperating with the regrouping that began Saturday.

We will cooperate as far as possible with the special committee members, officers and computer operators participating in the regrouping, who reached the cantonments, he said.

Khanal said the Maoist PLA headquarters had given directives to cooperate in the regrouping to all the commanders and works have started. nepalnews.com
