Accusing the current Prime Minister Baburam Bhattrai –led ruling coalition of being the “most corrupt government” in the nation’s history, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum –Nepal (MJF-N) on Sunday made a formal announcement of the withdrawal of party’s support to the government.

Organising a press conference in the capital this afternoon, MJF-N chairman Upendra Yadav said that the current government is the most corrupt in the nation’s history which could not make any progress on the important task of peace process and constitution drafting.  Therefore, Yadav said, the party decided to withdraw its support to the Bhattarai government and pave way for the formation of a national consensus government.

He said there is no meaning in continuing to support the current government as it has failed to live up to its commitment to fulfill people’s aspiration. The MJF chair was also angry with the government for failing to integrate 10,000 Madhesis into the Nepal Army as per the previous agreement with terai-centric Madhesi parties.

A meeting of the MJF-N central committee held on Friday decided to withdraw the support. The MJF refused to join the current government, but had given moral support to it.

Two of its breakaway parties, one led by Bijay Gachchhadar and other led by J.P Gupta, are now key allies in the Baburam Bhattarai government.

However, even after withdrawal of support of MJF-N, a party which has 12 seats in the legislature-parliament,  there is little possibility that the Bhattarai government  will fall as it still enjoys a comfortable majority in the House. Nepalnews.com
