Nepal thrashed Malaysia by 97 runs on Saturday to register their second consecutive victory at the ACC U-19 Women's Championship being held at the KOC Unity grounds in Kuwait.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, opener Shilu Rijal scored 35 runs and Mamta Chaudhary remained unbeaten on 23 runs as Nepal scored 136-5 in 25 overs. Indu Verma also scored 17 runs for Nepali team.

In response, Malaysia performed miserably against the splendid bowling attack of Nepal led by Santoshi Kumari Chaudhary as the South-east Asian nation were restricted to a paltry score of 39 runs in 16.2 overs.

Chaudhary, who took four wickets giving away just 13 runs, was declared Player of the Match. Similarly, captain Rubina Chhetri claimed three wickets giving away 9 runs.

Nepal had beaten China by seven wickets in the opening match of the tournament on Friday. Nepal, who are defending champion of the tournament, will now take on the UAE at the Unity grounds on Sunday. nepalnews.com
