PM Baburam BhattaraiHardliner faction of the UCPN (Maoist) led by vice chairman Mohan Baidya has demanded resignation of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai accusing him of violating party policy by revoking cabinet decision to legalise the war-era land transactions.

In the Standing Committee meeting called at party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence in Lajimpat on Thursday, the dissenting faction leaders strongly objected the fresh decision of the cabinet not to implement previous decision of legalising transactions of land under Maoist’s parallel government during the insurgency.Â

Mohan BaidyaEmerging from the meeting, party secretary CP Gajurel said that they proposed to call back Bhattarai from the prime ministerial post. Baidya loyalist leader also said that PM’s move was against the party policy.

Following three party meeting in Gokarna Resort on Wednesday, the cabinet meeting this morning took decision not to implement the decision until the next alternative is found.

The opposition Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have been obstructing the House proceeding over the controversial decision on the war-era land transactions. However, they are expected to allow to resume the House from today following the latest decision of the government. nepalnews.com
