The meeting of the legislature parliament resumed from Thursday after Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai addressed parliament announcing revocation of controversial cabinet decision to legalise war-era land transactions.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai speaking in the parliament meeting which had been...PM Bhattarai addressed the parliament after the opposition Nepali Congress and CPN-UML sought his address in the parliament saying that the cabinet decision taken earlier today regarding the revocation of the previous decision to legalise land transactions made by the Maoist parallel government during the insurgency was ambiguous.

Following three party meeting in Gokarna Resort on Wednesday, the cabinet meeting Thursday morning had decided not to implement the decision until the next alternative is found.

Addressing the parliament, the PM said he was obliged to take back the decision due to the protest of the opposition parties further explaining  that the decision was taken with good intention though.

Meanwhile, hardliner faction of the UCPN (Maoist) led by vice chairman Mohan Baidya has demanded resignation of PM Bhattarai accusing him of violating party policy by revoking cabinet decision to legalise the war-era land transactions. nepalnews.com
