Leaders of the UCPN (Maoist) have been divided over the possible leadership in the national unity government.

Standing Committee meeting of the Maoist party called at the parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Sunday to discuss  the formation of the national consensus government ended inconclusively after the rival factions in the party failed to make a common position on the leadership of the next government which is supposed to be the national consensus government.

Party establishment faction led by chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister and party's  vice chairman Baburam Bhattarai want to change existing government to a national consensus government by taking the opposition parties under confidence while hardliner faction led by another vice chairman Mohan Baidya is for seeking alternative of the existing government ruling out its continuity as the national consensus government.

Emerging from the meeting, party spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma said that the meeting has been deferred till Tuesday after holding a brief discussion as the party needed to make preparation to celebrate anniversary of the ‘People’s War’. Nepalnews.com
