A cabinet meeting Thursday took a number of decisions including the ones concerning the demands of women and injured Maoist combatants, and management of war-era land transactions.

The cabinet decided to prepare separate directives to address the demands of women combatants and those injured during the conflict period, 19-day movement and Madhes movement.

Similarly, the cabinet also declared bird flu alert in some of VDCs of Sunsari, Ilam and Jhapa districts and instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to take measures to control further spread of the H1N1 virus.

The meeting also announced a committee to be led of Maoist leader Janardan Sharma, which will include leaders of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, to find alternative ways to address the war-era land transactions after the cabinet revoked its earlier decision to legalise those transactions.

The cabinet also decided to establish United Service Center in four places of the country- Bardibas of Mahottari, Gotikhel of Lalitpur, Burtibang of Baglung and Sirdibas of Gorkha districts.

Likewise, the meeting also decided  to form a committee under the coordination of Ishwor Prakash Lamichhane  to investigate  land encroachment near Phewa lake in Pokhara.

In another decision, the government announced Rs 200,000 reward to each member of Nepali women cricket team, coaches and the manager, for their victory in the ACC U-19 Women's Championship held recently in Kuwait. nepalnews.com
