The meeting of the constitutional committee (CC) has been deferred by a week as top leaders of the three major parties- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML - pledged to forge consensus on contentious issues seen in constitution drafting after holding intensive discussions.

The meeting has been deferred till Feb 28 after Tuesday's meeting ended without making any headway on the contentious issues.

According to UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, the meeting has been postponed till Feb 28 to reach understanding on some issues among the major poiltical parties through decisive dialogue. The three party meeting is scheduled for Thursday.

The parties are yet to reach understanding on some issues such as the forms of the governance, electoral system and contents of the preamble in the constitution. nepalnews.com
