The two major opposition parties - Nepali Congress and UML - has made it clear that they would not accept "group entry" [in units] of Maoist combatant in the Nepal Army.
At a meeting of senior leaders of the two parties held in Singh Durbar Tuesday, leaders also raised strong objection to the Maoist demand for group entry of the combatants and one post of Brigadier General for the combatants.
“The meeting dwelt on integration of the Maoist combatants and decided to stand firm on previous agreement on the issue of integration of the combatants,” UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal informed reporters after the meeting.
On Sunday, the standing committee meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) had decided not to accept the integration if the combatants are not given at least one post of Brigadier General and reiterated party’s stance for unit-wise integration instead of individual recruitment based on the NA’s criteria. nepalnews.com
