Turkmenistan defeated Nepal 3-0 in Monday's match under the AFC Challenge Cup football played at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu.

Tagayev Elman scored the opening goal in the 7th minute while Gahryman Chonkayev doubled the score in the 78th minute and Hangeldiyev Guvanch scored additional goal in the 88th minute to secure an easy victory against Nepal.

Even a victory in today's match would not have led Nepal anywhere in the tournament, except some consolation, as the Maldives had ended their journey (1-0) on Saturday. Sadly, the last match only added to the host team's humiliation. Nepal had lost their first match against Palestine 2-0.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan and Palestine have entered the semi-finals in the AFC Challenge Cup from Group 'A'.

In another match today, Palestine defeated the Maldives 1-0 at APF stadium in Halchowk to enter the semis.

From Group 'B', DPR Korea entered semi-finals defeating Tajikistan 2-0 on Sunday while they had defeated Philippines 2-0 in earlier match on March 9.The match between Philippines and Tajikistan on Tuesday will decide the next team for semi-finals from Group 'B'.

National team's head coach Graham RobertsMeanwhile, national team's head coach Graham Roberts has announced his resignation soon after the team's third consecutive defeat in the tournament. His tenure was to officially end at the end of March.

Roberts, 52, a former English footballer, had been selected as Nepal's head coach by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) targeting AFC Challenge Cup last year. nepalnews.com
