People from Magar community staging rally prior to a mass meeting at Bashantapur... The indigenous Magar community staged a rally in Kathmandu on Thursday, demanding 'Magarat autonomous province'.

Carrying banners and placards, members of different organisations of Magar community chanted slogans demanding identity-based federalism. They said that the be would-be federal states must be given right-to-self-decision along with preferential rights to the marginalised communities.

The rally converged into a mass meeting at Basantapur Durbar Square.

Magars account for 7.14 percent population of Nepal with dominance in western districts like Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi, Palpa, Rolpa and Rukum. nepalnews.com
