Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Saturday said the major political political parties were going to reach a new political understanding on the federal model.

Speaking during the golden jubilee of Namuna Secondary School in Chitwan, Dahal said the major parties were in regular discussion and that an understanding to replace the recent agreement to create 11 provinces was likely on Sunday.

Dahal, who said at a programme in the capital earlier today that the agreement on the 11 provinces was going to be reconsidered, maintained there is nothing unusal about the ongoing protest movements for ethnicity-based federalism.

He also said all sides need to show restraint and patience while carrying out protests so as not to harm national integrity and social harmony.

The Maoist chairman also maintained that the parties have no other option than to arrive at consensus to make sure that the constitution is promulgated by May 27. nepalnews.com
