UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday said that the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) can be reinstated through consensus among political parties to settle the remaining tasks of the CA and promulgate the new constitution.

UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal addressing a programme on current...Speaking at an interaction done by political parties in the ruling coalition with the representatives of civil society in the capital, Dahal said that since talks of resurrecting the dissolved CA is also making rounds “we are open to any alternative including reinstating the Constituent Assembly as long as it helps in forging consensus”.

Dahal’s remark has come at a time when majority of former Constituent Assembly members of Nepali Congress  have been demanding reinstatement of the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) through consensus among political parties.

The Maoist strongman, however, took the opportunity to put the blame of CA’s failure to promulgate the new constitution solely on the shoulders of Nepali Congress and UML, who he said didn’t show much flexibility on the issue of state-restructuring even though the Maoist party agreed to settle for multiple-identity based federalism. nepalnews.com
