Tension ran high in Chitwan after police opened fire on a demonstration of entrepreneurs Wednesday afternoon. The local entrepreneurs took to the street protesting against the raid of Inland Revenue Office at a cloth shop (Laxmi Narayan Vastralaya).
The entrepreneurs said the officials raided the shop without notice. They have also accused the revenue officials of demanding bribe while raiding the store.
The demonstrators have set a police beat and a vehicle of the revenue office on fire in Narayangadh. The clash took place after police interfered the demonstrators after they blocked roads in Sahidchowk, Lionschowk and Pulchowk. The police also fired a rubber bullet to control the situation.
