Thousands of cadres of various political parties have gathered at Khula Manch (open air theatre) in Kahmandu on Friday to attend a mass gathering organised to protest the 'unilateral' announcement of fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) polls by the Maoist-led government and exert pressure on Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to step down.
The protest gathering was organised by 26 opposition parties including Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML. The protest rallies were taken out from different parts of Kathmandu Valley before they converged into the mass gathering.
NC and UML leaders had claimed that they would bring in a crowd of over 100,000 people in the demonstration. nepalnews.com
