Five people were killed and as many as thirty were injured when a passenger bus they were traveling in met with an accident in Tanahun district on Monday afternoon.

The bus (Gha 1 Kha 1161) was heading to Goreletar of Lamjung from Damauli when it suddenly lost control and skidded off the road to crash some 150 m down the hill at Byas Municipality-9.

The deceased were two men, two women and a young girl. They all died on the spot. Police said they are yet to ascertain their identities. The injured have been rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.

In another incident, two people were killed and more than 25 injured when passengers buses coming from the opposite direction collided head along the Makwanpur district section of the East-West Highway. The drivers of both the buses were killed in the accident. Five among the injured are said to be in critical condition and are undergoing treatment with rest of the injured in Bharatpur hospital.

The bus (Na 3 Kha 4864) bound for Narayanghat and another bus (Na 2 Kha 1283) enroute to Hetauda had collided at Basamadi VDC at around 10 this morning. nepalnews.com
